Reflection on Khan Academy and TPACK

I had no prior knowledge about Khan Academy until Dr. Wu was telling us about it, and having us make an assignment with it. I did my assignment over the different elements of a story. It was easy to find the Khan Academy video for this assignment. All I had to do to find it was search Khan Academy elements of a story video. I think that Khan Academy is a very good resource for teachers for multiple reasons. The first reason is that it helps add to a teachers lesson plan. I love to put fun videos in the lessons that I create. I believe that it adds a lot to the lesson, and helps grab the students attention. Khan Academy also helps teachers keep their students focused on the lesson they are learning. I believe that when students here the same teacher talk over and over they get board with it and lose interest. That's where Khan Academy will come in to play for my lesson plans. Khan Academy gives the students something different to listen to and watch. I believe t...

Article Reviews for 9/15/20

Teaching and Technology      When I started reading this article the first question that popped into my head was "I wonder when this article was published." The reason behind my wondering was because it talks about how classrooms will be effected by having more technology. In current times schools are relying 100 percent on technology. If it weren't for Zoom some schools wouldn't be open. The next thing that I thought was interesting was that in one year it was reported that there was a 56 percent raise in technology in the classroom. I wonder what the percent of technology in the classroom is now? Whether the teacher realizes it or not they use some form of technology every single day. The article kept talking about how technology could potentially "deskill" teachers. I haven't really thought about it in that way, but I'm curious about what my classmates think of that. Do you think that technology is "deskilling" teachers?  Net Generation...

Reflection on Google Classroom

I have dealt with Google Classroom before but from the student perspective. My high school used Google classroom, however it was up to the teacher if they wanted to post their assignments in it or not. I think that when I have a classroom of my own I will use Google Classroom. I really like how I can create assignments and set a date for them to be posted onto the classroom. I believe that I would use that feature a lot. I would hope that my future students will have a computer or access to a computer to take home form the school. I believe that Google Classroom will help the students keep track of their homework, and eliminate the "my dog ate my homework" situation. With Google Classroom my students can log into their account at home, and do their homework that way. From a students perspective that has used Google Classroom before I believe that students benefit from using Google Classroom. Students do not have to keep up with as many papers if they have all their assignmen...

How technology changes our lives.

“how technology changes our life in some aspects such as education, medicine, life, the way we communicate, and the way we respond etc.”     Sometimes after a long stressful day I sit back and wonder what it would have been like to be alive 100 years ago. So lets compare the year of 1920 to the year of 2020. World War 1 had just ended, and the "mass media" was born. The "talking box" now known as the modern day radio became a huge hit in the year 1920 after it started broadcasting live results of the presidential election. Only three years later 500,000 radios had been bought by American people. That is a great example on how fast technology can evolve and how quickly people catch onto it and want the "next big thing." Now in the year of 2020 people can simply pick up their smart phone or tablet, and get the latest news on the presidential election.       I think that the video on how technology has hijacked the dinner table relates ...
